Family, Footsteps and Fundraising: Founder Rob Takes on the Big Coastal Walk for The Evie Dove Foundation
Some familiar faces from The Good Travel Agent swapped their desks for walking boots this weekend, in support of a charity that means a great deal to us.
On Saturday, our founder Rob and his wife and business partner Sue, together with several family members, completed the Big Coastal Walk 2026 - a 16-mile route through the Kentish countryside and coastline - to raise funds for The Evie Dove Foundation. It's safe to say there were a few tired legs by the end of it, but it was all in aid of a cause well worth the effort.
About The Evie Dove Foundation
The Evie Dove Foundation was set up in memory of Evie Dove, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2021 and sadly passed away in March 2022, at just thirteen years old. Her parents, Katie and Howard, together with her brother Edward and close family and friends, created the Foundation in her honour - determined that her story would go on to help other children and families facing similarly unimaginable circumstances.
The Foundation's mission is simple but powerful: to help save young lives by funding the further education and training of paediatric doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. Those who receive support become the charity's "Heroes" - healthcare professionals who use their sponsored training and qualifications to provide better, more specialist medical and pastoral care to sick children and their families, often in areas the NHS alone isn't able to fund. It's also a meaningful way of tackling a wider shortage of specialist paediatric staff across the UK.
The Foundation is run entirely by volunteers, meaning the vast majority of every donation goes directly towards funding these training grants - support that has a real, lasting impact on the care children receive when they need it most.
Each year, the charity holds its Big Coastal Walk along the Kent coastline, alongside other fundraising events around the country, bringing together family, friends and supporters who want to do something tangible for a cause close to their hearts.
